Frequently asked questions
Are all the pictures on your site your own work?
Yes, All the hair and/or makeup featured in the pictures throughout this site are either my work or my assistants unless otherwise stated. We don't use any bought images.
Do I need a trial and when?
I recommend that every bride has a trial. It's one of your most special days and you want to make sure everything is perfect! On your trial we can go over looks that you like and I will suggest things for your face shape, eye colour, hair length, dress neckline etc. I recommend having the trial a month or two before the wedding. Trials take around two hours and include one hair and makeup look and small tweaks to try different looks and get it perfect. If you want to try two completely different looks then a second can be added for a discounted fee and an extended time frame.
Do I need to buy a lippy or anything for the day?
I would recommend you buy a lipstick so its easy to apply during the day and one for the bridesmaids. I can suggest colours or tell you the name of the one we choose at the trial so you can buy it. I am happy to purchase the lipstick that we choose at your trial on your behalf and have it for you on the day. Most of my colours are MAC lipsticks and retail at $40. I don't recommend those 16 hour lipsticks that are meant to be very long lasting, I am yet to find one that doesn't dry and flake after a few hours. If you don't want to buy one I will supply a small amount in a tester pot and an applicator to last the day. I also suggest a blot/translucent powder especially in the summer months to get rid of shine and oil throughout the day. Blot powders take away the shine without adding extra colour so you don't get caked up by applying over again.
Do I need to pay a booking/deposit fee? And when do I have to pay the balance?
Yes. I just ask for a deposit of 20% for weddings or large bookings to confirm and secure your day. The balance can be paid a week before the wedding or in cash or cheque on the wedding/event day or on the trial day if you like. For school ball or general event bookings I ask for $20 per person. 50% of your deposit is refundable up until 60 days prior to the wedding if cancelled. Same applies for Balls and general bookings up to 2 weeks prior to your booking
Deposits may not be required for small bookings. No deposit is required for spray tanning.
Do you bring other artists for larger weddings?
Yes. For weddings of 5 or more people (hair and makeup) I will call upon an assistant. They will be fully qualified and meet my standards of high quality work.
Do you come to me?
Yes! I am mobile. I will come to you for your wedding or event. I have a home studio in Huapai, North-west Auckland. I do mostly wedding trials, nails and spray tanning here. I ask you to come to me for your wedding trials if possible. Also any other hair and makeup booking is more than welcome to come here, which saves you paying a travel fee.
What days are you available
I will consider taking bookings for almost any day/time. Not usually available on public holidays or long weekends. I have a Christmas break for 2 weeks from Christmas Day. Mostly I take Sundays off but will consider taking weddings or industry work only.
How far do you travel? Do you travel to Waiheke Island?
I will consider traveling anywhere. Travel fees May apply and will vary depending on variables such as day, time, location and size of booking. A lot of North, West and central Auckland suburbs will have low or no travel charge. I am based in Taupaki, west of Auckland, and any travel over 15k's will be charged and quoted on booking. Travel will be quoted on a case by case basis.
Travel to Waiheke is a standard $150 (per artist if I need to bring an assistant). This covers my return ferry ticket, parking in the city and covers time on the ferry. You will also need to arrange travel to and from the Waiheke ferry terminal once on the Island. If this is not possible, additional taxi fees will apply.
I am looking to travel to Rarotonga, this winter or next, for an extended work holiday. If you have a wedding coming up in Raro, or even any of the other popular island wedding destinations please get in touch as different rates will apply.
